Post 2 - Sorry for the delay!

We know, we know.  We've been trying to post to the blog, but Iowa only gets internet every 7 hours of every 3rd day on even weeks on months beginning with "J", starting at 6pm and ending at 7:30pm.  We've had a hard time adjusting to that schedule.

So buckle in, because here we go!

Betsy, Soni, Elaine, Steve leaving SLC
AND we're off; the B-52s are headed for Iowa. The SLC contingency left in waves with Gwen, Sue and the support-mobile first out of the gate after a slight delay due to basement flooding. Not to worry- preparations and other team members not affected.

"Shamu, the fun mobile," hit the road precisely at 6am on Friday, according to reports from command central (aka Lisa Church, Jack, Gracie, and Yasoo), which is precisely the time that the Seattle contingency (of 1) was standing in the First Class line of United Flight 732 Seattle to Chicago to Sioux City. Seattle also experienced some delay while some whack job was hauled off the flight. With some help from the travel angel surreptitiously packed in my luggage by Seattle command central (aka Martha Norberg, Satchmo and Ella), first class was unaffected and all went well from there.

Sioux City on right, Nebraska on left, great Missouri River in the middle
So where were the B-52s on the night before the night before the launch of RAGBRAI 40? In the heartland - that's where. Gwen and Sue were basking in St. Paul MN; Shamu spent the night at the luxurious Hampton Inn, Grand Island, Nebraska; and Seattle joined the other RAGBRAI riders at the Hilton Garden, Sioux City, official pre-party site.
Leaving Nebraska, wishing happy birthday to Betsy's sister

Next stop - Sioux Center, IA.
