Post 9 - Day 3: Wall Lake to Webster City

Today's miles: 81.2
Total ride miles: 197.6
Temp: 102 degrees

After another early morning (5am) wake-up call, we had the road to ourselves for 5 miles and saw some more beautiful Iowa farmland.

A beautiful Iowa morning

We joined the pack and powered on.  The day started out calm and comfortable, but by midway into the ride, the wind was gusting up to 40 mph.

Surviving the heat with a smile

Quotes from our riders:
Betsy: "I was as tired as I've ever been after a ride"
Steve: "Hardest day I've ever had on a bike in my entire life.  Without a doubt."
Soni: "The cheeseburger and lemonade sure hit the spot!"
Elaine: "These are my worst thigh tan lines ever."
Kris: "Thank God I got off at Farnhamville"
Sue: "Still not as bad as Kansas."

  1. Who knew Iowa had wind and wind farms??!! Kudos to all of the photographers, the pix are really great, and even after your longest-every Day 3, you're all still smiling.
